Jason Choi is the co-founder and partner of Tangent, a principal investment firm focusing on opportunities in frontier technology across private and public markets.
In addition to Tangent, Jason has angel invested in startups in humanoid robotics, advanced cancer diagnostics, and consumer AI.
Prior to Tangent, Jason joined Hong Kong’s first institutional crypto asset fund, Spartan Capital, as an analyst. He was promoted to General Partner within 3 years and co-led its expansion from $9M to $500M AUM, establishing Spartan as one of Asia’s most prominent funds.
As the Head of Research for its liquid strategies, Jason led his team to delivering Top 5 APAC hedge fund returns in 2020 and Top 10 global hedge fund returns in 2021.
Jason’s podcast, Blockcrunch, which interviewed founders and investors in crypto, has had over 1M in lifetime downloads. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Wharton School of Business, and was named Forbes 30 under 30 for Venture Capital and Finance in 2022. He holds a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as a hobbyist.
